Hasbeen’s HAVOC INTVL, released with Clean Error in July 2025, dives into glitchy braindance with shimmering bleeps and scattered pulses. Each track unfolds as a distinct, cryptic phase, blending mechanized dissonance and delicate melodies into a cohesive, abstract sonic journey.
Glitchy braindance unfolds cryptic phases
Seven tracks in, Hasbeen unveiled HAVOC INTVL alongside Clean Error in early July 2025—a so-called “mixed-reality-grid touchscreen board,” though to my ears, more an extended dive into glitch-streaked braindance. Subtle bleeps shimmer and dissolve into view, flickering with the spontaneity of improvisation, yet shaped with careful intent. Within these sonic micro-movements, each “phase” is distinct—mapped out in cryptic Bandcamp notes—yet shuffled, fragmented, and stitched together with uncanny cohesion.
As each segment unfolds, bits of digital static fire through neural pathways, manifesting as mechanized dissonance. “[IV] __ FOAM_CHANNEL_17” runs parallel lines—delicate melodic threads piercing a chaos of jittery pulsework—while “[V] __ CRASHMOTION_∆_3X” drifts into murkier terrain, brooding and intricate, still shuffled, still sleek.
The release bows out on a cryptic note: “[VII] /ENTRY[HVC-X]/ They H∇TE US (Bonus),” a piece that spins between fractured noise and swirling consonance, sealing the project with a final sputter of arcane rhythm—glitch in full bloom.
