On the Sometimes EP, Everything Changes (aka robbyt and Todd Buchler) shatter drill’n bass slabs to no end. Core grooves are packed with frenetic jungle and flickering beats, yet they maintain a fierce energy that cascades with roughened edges. “Surrounded” seems to be the most laid-back of the bunch; it keeps an industrial vibe while maintaining fast-paced and frantic rhythms. Meanwhile, “Subotica” slices the landscape with its skittering, percussion-heavy gloss and spooky, dark ambient details. The cinematic layers of “Bristle” begin with a transcending quality that gradually builds with explosive beat patches and easily finds itself as the perfect soundtrack. “Dirty Instruments” finishes with drum shards and laser beam sandblasting until everything eventually breaks down and is obliterated. An utterly intense EP with powerful electronic dimensions.
