Pathways II finds Drifting in Silence and E J R M deepening their collaborative exploration of immersive, dream-tinged ambient soundscapes.

Ambient architects reunite for Pathways
With an incredibly large catalogue of spacious electronic soundscaping releases, Derrick Stembridge (alias Drifting in Silence) figures among the most active digital ambient artists of his generation, a bit like Scott Lawlor today or Andrew Lahiff. Drew M. Geiger of E J R M joins him for what can be considered the second collaborative chapter. Pathways II (a following from its original) follows the compositional principles and sound aestheticism of their respective efforts, with a sympathetic interest in new-age-y alchemical perspectives expressed through sound motifs and lush textures.
The tracks offer pleasant, intriguing, and enveloping synthadelic sequences, with the occasional presence of melodious acoustic notes that enhance the contemplative and sentient qualities of the ensemble. The cinematic space-ambient universe displayed by the two artists invites the listener to immerse himself in blissful harmonies and solemn, slowly shifting reflective-liminal states.
The dreamy tone and freely flowing moments obtained by meandering synth textures can easily convince fans of the genre and listeners of sweeping electronic music by Saul Stokes, Jeff Pearce, Kevin Braheny, or even Robert Rich at his most peaceful, spiritually relaxing moments. Others might welcome these dreamy soundtracks as an invitation to meditate beneath the clouds.
Pathways II is available on Labile. [Bandcamp]
