Ecovillage :: The Road Not Taken (laaps)

Overall, this release is a necessary reminder that we have gotten too far away from the intended, natural, human experience.

Hearing colors is magical

Deeper and deeper into pondering my life and the human experience in general, The Road Not Taken by Ecovillage (aka Emil Holmström and Peter Wikström) is the perfect soundtrack. It lets you know right away in the opening piece, “Spark (ft. Fennesz),” that these tones and “sparks” will not intrude on your experience, but rather accompany you. Like a warm guide on a deep inner exploration, this piece is my weighted blanket that allows “Memories of Spring (ft. Masayishi Fujita)” to take me away. Aptly titled, “Memories of Spring” continues the simplicity both in instrumentation and performance. With synesthesia seemingly at work here, I can see the old memories of flowers blossoming in my mind with every tone. Hearing colors is magical. Finally, “Ascend (ft. Henrik Meierjord)” brings the long, deep string vibration that my soul didn’t know it ached for.  Overall, this release is a necessary reminder that we have gotten too far away from the intended, natural, human experience. I can’t help but quote Alan Watts, “You were not born into this universe, you were born out of it.”
