A high-voltage expedition
Two audacious acid odysseys from the ever-imaginative Strictly Kev—better known as DJ Food—who once again bends sonic reality, this time under his Locked Loop Group moniker. Coming to Acid Lathe via his own Infinite Illectrik imprint—a hub for experimental turntable jams and cut-up collages from DJ/producer/designer Strictly Kev, aka DJ Food, and other like-minded artists—these tracks are masterclasses in audio alchemy, fusing innovation and intensity in true boundary-blurring fashion.
In the liner notes, Strictly Kev unveils the genesis: These tracks were created during spontaneous sessions in early 2023, while he was road-testing his custom-built Quadraphon turntable ahead of its debut performance. Outfitted with three additional tonearms mounted on a bespoke frame, the deck allows for simultaneous playback of four distinct grooves from a single record.
The alchemical results shimmer across Acid Endless, a high-voltage expedition through scorched techno terrain and hypnotic acid house motifs, surging with kinetic force and raw analog fervor. While “Acid Endless 1” drives forward on a surge of frenzied pulsars, “Acid Endless 2″ veers into shadowy terrain, sculpting its path from squelched and sandblasted sound slabs. Pressed onto a rare 8” square mono lathe-cut Zoetrope picture disc, this release is more than collectible—it’s a visual and auditory vortex, spinning with purpose and power.
