What we have here is definitely not a failure to communicate in minimalistic grooves. This “concept” album composed by the duo of Andres Bucci and Kate Simko reflects their unique contrast of cultural and musical influences. Andres Bucci is a Chilean producer and visual artist that spent six years living in Berlin. Kate Simko is a pianist, composer and producer that met Andres while living in Chile. The results are a blend of both musical worlds. Currently, Kate spends her time in Los Angeles, and has once again collaborated with Andres to produce Shapes of Summer on the Traum label out of Cologne, Germany.

Shapes of Summer is an album that mingles with relaxed electronics and sincere piano highlights all wrapped up in an invisible Berlin influenced minimal-techno shell. With mastering done by John Tejada, there’s a clean feeling of accuracy and attention to each sound that pleases the ears and tickles the feet at just the right moments. Where complex musical landscapes collide with calming arrangements of electronic music, Shapes of Summer is a harmonically rich album of subtleties and relaxation. Molding the shapes of summer and offering it up as a musical companion piece, Detalles have a fresh musical approach that doesn’t veer too far into electrical abstraction. Instead, it focuses on instrumentally fluid sound-escapes that is just in time for summer enjoyment.

Shapes of Summer is OUT NOW on Traum Records and distributed via Kompakt.
