Followers of sonic miniatures and impressionist contemplative ambient escapism from Lee Hannah, The Green Kingdom, Omni Garden, Yoshimura, and noda yûki should take note.

Multi faceted sound artist, DJ, and experimental jazz musician Lara Jones offers a lush, spiritually shimmering and soothing minimal ambient experience. Published by Lo Recordings, this new album proves that Lara Jones is an artist whose music subverts categories and always sensitive to new sound explorations and stylistic tendencies, surfing on challenging moods and easily jumping from ultra groovy techno-ish ambiences to silky droning music for minimal patterns and subtle layers of sound.

Made of two lengthy tracks and three edits, Dome shows another aspect of Lara Jones’ distinctive signature with an interesting use of serene tones and sinuous pads with natural healing properties. An album of spiritual clarity and of meditative grandeur, it also gives space to concrete sound manipulations and processed field recordings under a more conceptual angle. Dome is a blooming, fresh, and beautiful release without falling into stereotypical New Age tropes thanks to the alignment of experimental techniques and sentient exploration on timbres as well as on minimal pulses. The second track has a more complex rhythmical structure displaying a tapestry of sheer evocative sounds and minimal dreamily repetitive motifs.

Easily recommended for lovers of meditative astral music, chill-out, and downtempo music with a Zen-inspired edge (ref. JP Ongaku music). Followers of sonic miniatures and impressionist contemplative ambient escapism from Lee Hannah, The Green Kingdom, Omni Garden, Yoshimura, and noda yûki should take note.
