As its lilt, looped from an earlier Milieu album, eddies in the shallows, it gently stirs up the pebbles and grit below.
Brian Grainger is the most prolific ambient and dub techno artist in Columbia, South Carolina today. His work is accomplished and accessible and he’s an idea man. He runs his own label and co-manages two or three more. His ambient music is released under the moniker Milieu, while as Coppice Halifax, he fans out series of “listening techno” under rubrics including “Analog Botany,” “Verdant Acres,” and “Cedar Mast.”
Static Pharming is the latest of these series. Each month a single track, three-inch CDR will be released in a soft plastic case with medicine bottle dosage stickers affixed. Intended to explore a variety of dub depths, the first, “Empty,” is water to sand. As its lilt, looped from an earlier Milieu album, eddies in the shallows, it gently stirs up the pebbles and grit below. Mild winds buffet the bulrushes. Outdoor comfy like your Adirondack chair.
We´ll be referring back to Static Pharming for regular refills.
Static Pharming is available on Milieu Music.
