A carefully balanced mosaic of abstract electronic forms arrives in Audio Scape, a multi-artist compilation curated by Berlin-based DJ duo ChillinBerlin. As the second collection assembled by Jus10 and Pat Flanders, it follows Mindwaves Plantation (2008), a release that effectively ignited the formation of mindwaves-music.

Across eleven pieces, genres dissolve into one another with natural ease. Sensational opens proceedings with “Life Buzz,” a concise electronic hip-hop vignette nodding toward Merck Records’ lineage, echoing Deceptikon and Machinedrum in spirit. From there, subdued glitch shimmer in Køps’ “Inside the Machine” gives way to ASYX’s gently flickering funk on “Dream Like Snow,” before Rasmus Fisker’s “Fell” settles into downtempo reminiscence. Original Tradition’s “Shoin” expands further, unfolding ambient sound design and sparse beat patches with striking weight and presence.

This collection excels at refining downtempo currents and rhythmic pulses. Adam Winchester’s “Sine Scan” fractures momentum into clicks, cuts, and refined broken beats, while Karsten Pflum’s “Nothing Lasts Forever Except Your Sauce” draws on familiar bubbling braindance motifs and distant nostalgic references we’ve come to expect from the Danish soundsmith. Briain’s “I Got Your 6” adds slow-funk sparkle, carving a warm, understated groove.

Final moments remain equally compelling. Rexob.B’s “Stagger” feels immediate and assured, followed by Oddity’s “Nekromatik,” a micro-breakbeat surge destined for classic status. randomh’s closing “17” threads abstract braindance bleeps through serene melodic strands and raw machine logic.

Together, these pieces allow Audio Scape to move fluidly through a wide spectrum of electronic abstraction, sustaining intrigue without ever exhausting its listener.
