Syncopated beat-work and shattered found-sounds make up this sonic spectrum resulting in a confounding collection of exploratory music.
Frenetic IDM brushed up against abstract jungle rhythms and odd time signatures hark back to disjointed rave moments of the mid to late 90s. Asto gives us his second extended player titled Animist & Experimental—displaying hypnotic beat-infested time shifts, theses four tracks follow a mechanical, almost deconstructive pulse back to front. Brisk bass shuffling, fractured techno bits and bytes, with an emphasis on looped noises, each piece is a complex yet somehow coherent slab of electronics and what the artist calls mystic Afro-Cuban rhythms. What’s interesting is that within 15-minutes you’ll find that these sound fields do not adhere to any set musical rules, instead Asto goes out on his own without any references to link to.
