A two-part voyage into the sublime is achieved through a fusion of styles, expansive ambient sound sources, drifting synths, and gentle guitar tones.

This two-part continuous play features eleven different tunes. Because every piece on the album was written with home listening in mind, it may be listened to as a single, expansive journey. AK-One (aka Bristol-based producer, DJ, and visual artist Greg Harris) unveils his debut Nothing Grows in a Straight Line for Common Ancestors on April 5th, 2024, which is ideal for floating post-party levitation or opulent home listening. A two-part voyage into the sublime is achieved through a fusion of styles, expansive ambient sound sources, drifting synths, and gentle guitar tones.

Ethereal voices appear and disappear as lively instrumentation and synthetic soundscapes blend together. Drifting far off into the margins with layered drones and guitar strings softly cascading (ref. “The Fjord”) to The Orb and port-royal styled emotive spheres looping each other (ref. “To Dust,” “Highwater,” and closing piece “Floating Stones”), this debut is an emotionally calming passage of time and subtle tones. Written under the Moroccan sun on a dusty rooftop, Nothing Grows in a Straight Line captures moments of pleasant and timeless spaciousness.
