This new offering reveals a collection of deeply soothing soundscapes and slippery textures based on sustained and dynamic drones and chords—a thrilling and minimal ambient release of sorrowing introspective solemnity.
A constellation of meticulously crafted ambient sceneries
Not to be confused with the homonym who is a famous actor of B-grade movies, Massimo Pupillo is a virtuosic and eclectic multi-media sound artist whose name is established thanks to emblematic and distinctive collaborations with notorious acts and artists such as Romeo Castellucci, Chiara Guidi (of Societas Raffaello Sanzio), Meg Stuart, Marie-Agnes Gillot, Dewey Dell, and Yaman Okur. Needless to name all, but we noticed a distinctive one with Japanese electro jazz artist Kando and with the pioneering electroacoustic artisan Alvin Curran, which can definitely catch the listener’s attention.
Naturally, Massimo Pupillo finds a legitimate home for his sound sculptures on the renowned Glacial Movements for their inventive and extraordinary (emotionally) moving corpus of modern days micro-tonal music. This new offering reveals a collection of deeply soothing soundscapes and slippery textures based on sustained and dynamic drones and chords—a thrilling and minimal ambient release of sorrowing introspective solemnity. Difficult to pick up one track in particular, but listeners will find here a nice way to get immersed in a constellation of meticulously crafted ambient sceneries. Recommended for fans of deep home listening and musical quietude.
