Adrien d’Elzius :: About Last Night EP (Oval Harmonique)

Overall, an excursion into downtempo wonderment not to be missed.

A combination of delicate electronica swirls

Adrien d’Elzius has consistency when it comes to variety for each of his releases. This time on his current EP, he delivers a combination of delicate electronica swirls that are soft yet magnetic. The opening title-track has slow and steady ripples of electronic zaps behind its saturated rhythm. “I did not give up on you” is quite a delight, its piano melody maintains a chilled background feeling while the unobtrusive ivory keys of “Underrated Sensorium” evoke solitude and self-reflection. Its creativity of hauntingly low-frequency noise is juxtaposed against a periodic, obscure, and mysterious “clang.” This closing piece is low-frequency enigmatic electronica, and is very compelling. Overall, an excursion into downtempo wonderment not to be missed.
