Brief by design, Snapped Bones doesn’t linger—it strikes, drills, and exits, leaving behind scorched circuits and a lasting imprint of mechanized destruction.
Relentless, machined energy
8cylinder crashes onto the scene with a jagged, unrefined force rooted in industrial mechanics and noise-driven chaos via Snapped Bones. The seventh entry from Pittsburgh’s Unmapped North—a label steeped in experimental and breakcore extremes—finds 8cylinder condensing volatile sound fragments into compact, three-minute bursts. From the corroded 8-bit sludge of the title cut to the glitch-infused game-score layers of “Gatejumper” and the distorted throb of standout “Microacid,” each track grinds forward with relentless, machined energy.
Operating with a clear mission of sonic dismantling, 8cylinder layers fractured beats and metal-on-metal resonance, exposing a cold, splintered shell steeped in gabber grit. While the tracks sprint by, each leaving just enough wreckage to contemplate before the next impact, “Troubling Viscosity” moves with an almost springy step—lighter in construction yet still abstract in nature. The finale, “Intermittent Pangs of Searing Dread While Otherwise Calmly Drowning,” stands as a concentrated blast of tension and precision, threading together every previous sonic element into a sharp-edged conclusion that hints at untapped potential.
