Helios (aka Keith Kenniff) signs to quintessential electronic and experimental label Ghostly International for his forthcoming LP Veriditas expected August 31, 2018. To his long-standing fans and ambient electronic aficionados, it’s a development that feels predestined, since Ghostly is notably home to so many congruent and equally remarkable talents. The new track from Veriditas titled “Seeming” opens with a beautiful lulling pad and unexpectedly elevates itself from there by introducing a few unfamiliar heightened accents.

Given their well-earned reputation as a purveyor of quality, by bringing Helios into the fold they’ve added another accomplished member to the dream team. For the platform of Tycho, Helios is a natural fit. His music shares similar sonic attributes with the now label mate, as well as an enriching emotional depth and airiness.

Known for calming soundscapes, nostalgic synth elements, and delicate acoustic instrumentation, many of Helios’s releases have had an unmistakable fluidity to their compositions. The new track from Veriditas titled “Seeming” opens with a beautiful lulling pad and unexpectedly elevates itself from there by introducing a few unfamiliar heightened accents. It is altogether expansive for only being 2:36 in length and a promising offering that serves to signal Veriditas’ coming into existence, if not at least in our public consciousness.

For an album foreshadowed to embody the connected emotional response to both the creative process and the experiential appreciation of certain features of our physical world, the cover artwork by Oliver Barrett is the perfect complement. A figure facing the distance, wind in the hair, mountains that disassemble into liquid and spill beyond their scope, it’s a beautiful image. The album design by Luke Twyman and Ghostly’s marbled beige packaging is on point here with their aesthetic and is sure to be a desirable purchase. Can’t wait to take in the view, serenity awaits.

Veriditas is available on Ghostly (August 31, 2018).
