Futuresequence SEQUENCE8, No Future SEQUENCE

Futuresequence’s Michael Waring has seen fit to draw SEQUENCE to a close.

Futuresequence has declared SEQUENCE8 the last in its SEQUENCE. The free compilation series curated by the UK label and magazine has since 2011 provided a platform for emerging and established alike, exhibiting the breadth and depth of artists pushing the envelope of texture, patterns and sequences of sounds, blending instrumentation and electronics. SEQUENCE has been integral not only to Futuresequence’s evolution as a label, but also to a burgeoning ambient, drone, modern classical and minimalist community, introducing a range of new artists, some—e.g. Radere, Sun Hammer, Widesky, Zvuku, Atlantis, Wolf Maps, Tiny Leaves, Moon Zero—going on to release individual works on the label. After 3 years, 310 tracks and 27,000 downloads, though, declaring the process of receiving and curating submissions ‘at times a mammoth task, but always enjoyable,’ Futuresequence’s Michael Waring has seen fit to draw SEQUENCE to a close.

Artists featured on the valedictory SEQUENCE8 are Dag Rosenqvist, Siavash Amini, strië, Sophia Loizou, Monolyth & Cobalt, Zenjungle, My Home, Sinking, Kevin Verwijmeren, Endless Melancholy, Mendel Kaelen, Abul Mogard, Ghost and Tape, Matthew Collings, Monadh, an.rost, Eeem, Radere, Tegh, Funeral Fireworks, A.R.C Soundtracks, Alex Kozobolis & Harry Edwards, Cétieu, Andagainandagain, Capac, Nutedfoy, Maiya Hersey, Five Minutes Alone, Petrels. Info/commentaries here.

SEQUENCE8 is available for download on Futuresequence.
