Some sort of obscure, magical ritual this is; surely an engaging one, as this Tam Lin LP tries to immediately hypnotize you as it begins. It does succeed, indeed, as you’ll likely be asking yourself what is happening throughout the entire album.

Simple, minimalistic, and incredibly catchy synth-based pop tunes is what you can find in Demons.
Six Rivers National Forest :: Folklore (Peak)
Behold! An unknown beast! One that you may be able to spot while taking a walk in the frosty and mysterious soundscapes that Folklore depicts, a good alternative for those who don’t live in snowy areas.
Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan :: Your Community Hub (Castles In Space)
Your Community Hub is a great take on a classic style of electronic music. While it’d be easy to discredit this LP as just rehashed old techniques, the execution is what ultimately sets it apart, so much so that if this style happened to resuscitate in a couple years to come, Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan would be one of the names to hail and remember—and I promise—it’s not that challenging to do so.
Multiples (Speedy J & Surgeon) :: Two Hours Or Something (STOOR)
Two pillars of ’90s techno, Speedy J and Surgeon, team up as Multiples to give birth to, indeed, almost two hours of discomforting and rather challenging rhythms.
Taylor Deupree :: Sti.ll (Nettwerk / 12k / Greyfade)
Sti.ll is overall smoother and more pleasant, which is really fitting for the intimate and subtle sentiment of the original LP, making it a re-listen that fans of the original should not miss out on.
Cressida :: The Flying Dagger EP (Shaw Cuts)
The Flying Dagger displays a solid batch of tracks that go as hard as the concept behind the project would lead you to believe. To match various fight scenes and the thrill of revenge, the beats on this EP do need to go rather hard, and they certainly succeed at that.
Masaya Ozaki :: Mizukara (laaps)
Masaya Ozaki explores various sound sources on Mizukara and then manipulates them into comforting or sometimes discomforting new textures. There’s various acoustic instruments that get played with, contributing to the album’s overall variety and different soundscapes.
Bernhard Living :: The Nature of Things (Self Released)
While their core ideas are always there, minimal variations make these pieces work, as they’re not just loops going on for 25 minutes straight; there’s so few minimal details that it’s worth pointing them out individually instead of providing examples.
RamonPang :: Life Cycle Waves (The Tabula Rasa Record Company)
Even if the album as a whole isn’t trying to make all of these different styles work together, RamonPang seems to be able to achieve something interesting with all of them, as despite some harsh contrasts in the tracklist, all the tracks eventually manage to pull me in and make me accustomed to their new sound.
