This EP works on a conceptual level where spectral sound forms harmoniously interact with disembodied and fractal microstructures. Not for all ears, but recommended for fans of eerie, brainy dronescapes and flexible noisy textures.
In the mass digital information age, the number of self-produced artists has grown wild. Despite the fact that it is time consuming and exhausting to be in tune with the avalanche of music, I’m pleasantly and positively surprised that this release demonstrates at least a giant interest for indie music with an experimental shape and electronic direction. For avid listeners of deep audio researches and adventurous slow-moving soundscapes, Ben Milstein is not an unknown name. Based in Portland, Oregon, this electronic sound artist and noise maker has published a handful of albums in the DIY electronic music scene—most notably recognized for his electro and breaks field of expertise. Milstein is a skilled individual with a solid background in operating computer systems, software methodology, as well being a professional pianist, and piano teacher. He uses this background in languages and technology to expand his range of compositions in the field of abstract ambient electronic and electro-acoustic research on this 21-minute Sleeping Robot EP. This piece works on a conceptual level where spectral sound forms harmoniously interact with disembodied and fractal microstructures. Not for all ears, but recommended for fans of eerie, brainy dronescapes and flexible noisy textures, heritage of the Groupe de Recherche Musicale (GRM) and the San Francisco Tape Center.
