Crowdfunding feels like the future for the smaller boutique label. Here we find two UK based labels joining forces to seek funding for a 180g vinyl release of Zvuku’s Remnant, and judging by the clips cropping up on Soundcloud, it’s shaping up to be a fine release.
Karl McGrath (aka Zvuku) resides in Ireland overlooking the western mountains from County Wicklow—undoubtedly a scene that has influenced his music. Sitting firmly in the neo-classical drone camp, McGrath’s sound is described as “beautifully constructed, and keenly observed emotional electro-acoustic pieces of treated guitar, violin and piano”—a finely balanced combination of warm drone fuzz and acoustic instrumentation.
