Talos creates experimental electronic music that is emblematic of organized chaos, rebirth, abrasion and a fusion of elegant digits bursting at the seams.
Talos is an independent audio-visual project duo focusing on the exploration of electronic music, static and motion graphics, photography and nature. Reactor 4 and Attention—its companion of high-pitch noise, squelches and bleeps—must both be administered on repeat prior to actual listening. Each phase catapults itself onto the next spilling experimental downtempo industrialism from every edge. Minimal, glitch-infused data is presented in the most articulate fashion—fans of Access To Arasaka should take note.
As “Evolve” exhibits a flare for soundtrack vistas and microscopic interactions between particles and abrasive percussion, it’s no wonder that the inspiration behind this audio-visual release evolved from the catastrophic events of Chernobyl (Ukraine, 1986)—specifically at Reactor 4. “Principle of Duplication” features a chaotic eclipse of alien noise, hypnotic burrows of bass and beat crunching tethered to erratic layers of buzzing synths and tamed melodies. “Drone” explores other worlds in its crackling audio debris as “Contradiction” maintains an industrious, classical and lively echo of early-era Brothomstates versus Digitonal. “Population” closes with downtempo bass thumps and swirling atmospheric tentacles just in time for a repeat listening.
Talos creates experimental electronic music that is emblematic of organized chaos, rebirth, abrasion and a fusion of elegant digits bursting at the seams. Subtracting the thematic angle this release captures via sound-scrapping, Talos offers a sublime collection of eerily emotive electronics that is delivered mechanically but meant to be consumed in a panoramic environment.
Digesting the visual dynamics of Reactor 4‘s distinctive booklets, its multimedia inclusion of a 5″ CD, 3″ CD and 7″ Vinyl—alongside the melange of audible oddities—and you’ll be hard-pressed to find any faults on this diligent slice of art.
Reactor 4 is available on Layer Based Human Activities. [Release page]
