Andreas Tilliander :: Ljud [2026 Remaster] (Keplar)

Capturing his intuitive approach to electronica—minimalist, warm, playful (Ljud-ic?!) and obliquely house-informed, like its precursor, Ljud is a timeless work driven by repetition and microvariation, happy accident and spontaneity, the casuality and vibrancy of its spirit tangible throughout.

Not the one that made his name in experimental electronic music, Cliphop (2000) being what created a stir, and that under the Mokira alias; a year on a named Andreas Tilliander found fame for Ljud, whose 25th anniversary prompts a revisit courtesy of Keplar‘s Ljud [2026 Remaster] vinyl reissue with updated mastering by the artist.

The foundation for those two was laid when Tilliander binned most of his gear in 1998 after meeting Joel Brindefalk, who already had releases on cult Börft label using computer as main instrument; through him Tilliander discovered Sonic Foundry Sound Forge audio editing suite, key to making Ljud, produced mainly in the Jeskola Buzz modular studio environment, which, with the Nord Modular synth, drove the creative process; from loops, samples and real-time improvisation tracks grew, led by the digital minimalism of clicks’n’cuts with a house twist—essentially the in-house style of Mille Plateaux, whose seminal Clicks+Cuts compilation curated by Achim Szepanski came out a year before Ljud on the same label.

When preparing Ljud for reissue, the Swedish producer ran it through an analog outboard, finding he was still happy with its sound: ‘it brought back fond memories,’ he says, ‘I hope the same is true for people who heard it back then, and that everyone who discovers it now will enjoy it, too!’ Capturing his intuitive approach to electronica—minimalist, warm, playful (Ljud-ic?!) and obliquely house-informed, like its precursor, Ljud is a timeless work driven by repetition and microvariation, happy accident and spontaneity, the casuality and vibrancy of its spirit tangible throughout.
