Vert, also known as British Adam Butler, continues to release good music on the Köln-based Sonig label. This four-track ep consists of fine, barrel-organ-ish melodies on a background filled with squeaks and white noise. The music can be seen as a hybrid of Vladislav Delay’s warm soundscapes and Capitol K’s playful anti-pop. Each side of the 12″ has one long epic track and one shorter, dare I say simpler, track. The first tune, “To Doo Is to Be”, is definitely a small masterpiece.
