Latest Onset Audio release, BMA & Robbyt deliver Arbitrary Arbitrage / Lockbox, a taut two-tracker driven by dark breaks, dense pressure, and full-spectrum low-end hostility. “Arbitrary Arbitrage” unfolds through a slow-burning architecture of half-time step patterns, submerged atmospherics, and tightening rhythmic suspense before collapsing into a kind of controlled supernova. There’s a palpable emotional charge running beneath the production—frustration channelled directly into movement, using anger not as empty aggression but as a productive force against greed, excess, and the hollow ritual of monetary worship. The track’s tension feels psychological as much as sonic. On the flip, “Lockbox” strips things down into a more direct assault: a tightly drilled roller packed with psychotic breakage, brutal drum edits, and thick, phat bass weight. Functional yet deeply unhinged, it hits with precision while maintaining a raw, unstable energy throughout. Brutal and funky. It has not come to play but be played.
Arbitrary Arbitrage / Lockbox is available on Onset Audio. [Bandcamp]
