Arriving in late 2025, forget me not extends autumna’s dusty-ambient lineage—bookended by Emile Wauters’ vast, style-roaming discography—into a haze of memory, melancholia, and softly shimmering sonic tableaux.

Gauzy ambient memory drift
Lest we forget, late 2025 brought autumna’s forget me not (vergeet mij niet), on the back of a bunch bookended by igloo-’viewed Secret Radio (Werra Foxma, 2022) and After Words (noci miste, 2023), incl. This Isn’t The Love You Promised (Werra Foxma, 2022), A Comfortable Silence (Neotantra, 2022), My Heart Is A Chainsaw (Preston Capes, 2023) inter alia, testament to Emile Wauters‘ ample discography—50+ LPs, EPs and singles over a decade and a half across a range of styles, mostly towards the dusty ambient end of the spectrum.
Created last June-July for the Kunstkamer Exhibition (Schoten Castle BE. Oct 2025), forget me not is a set of soundscapes as drifting tableaux. Autumna‘s ‘broken music for happy people‘ conveys a feel of being ‘lost in worlds filled with melancholia and memories of summer sunbeams’ in a vein ‘often dark but always with a soft shimmer or hint of diamond dust’ (Wauters‘ verbiage). Tone is set on “memory transgression” and a gauzy blur fringed with remote birdchirp and vocal babble (field recordings from Capaccio IT., Pompei IT., Neuss DE., Schoten BE. and Deurne BE. feature). “The flowers know” settles into this nostalgic zone, melody sketched out of doleful tonefloat as if in sun-caught dust suspension. A murmur of field captures runs through it like riverine babble, imbuing proceedings with more anima. Assemblage resumes with “unfinished correspondance,” a doleful drone replete with noises off; ground and field of “polaroid archive” teem with pad shimmer and soft crackle, an apposite semiotic with spectral aural events like an old projector carousel cranking through grainy memory cache till a kind of closure comes through “sunset prism.”
In sum, another exhibit of autumna’s audiovisual sensibility, forget me not evokes dreamdaze revisits of scenes hallucinated by sonic oneiromancy.
