This year, Glitchpulse aim to honor the IDMf legacy with a collection of retrospective releases. Spanning five volumes, this collection will highlight some of the best of the IDMf catalog, offering nearly six hours of music. Each volume features a fresh new track from one of their esteemed alumni.

IDMforums.com, launched in 2006, was created as a hub for electronic music producers, with a focus on the IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) genre. It quickly became a vibrant community where artists could share their work, exchange ideas, and collaborate. The forum fostered a culture of experimentation and innovation, with members exploring a wide range of electronic music styles.

In 2008, two forum members, Fidelium (Wayne Baker) and Permutated (Nathan Schwartz), founded the IDMf Netlabel to showcase the community’s talent. The first release, IDMf001: In Depth Melodics, was a Various Artists compilation mastered by Matt Lange. This debut set the tone for the label’s mission: to provide a platform for independent artists while allowing them to retain control of their music through Creative Commons licensing.

Over the years, the IDMf Netlabel released numerous albums and compilations, each reflecting the diverse sounds and creativity of its members. The label became known for its quality and originality, helping to launch the careers of several artists. Today, IDMforums.com and the IDMf Netlabel remain important spaces for electronic music enthusiasts, continuing to nurture the next generation of electronic music producers.

In April 2024, IDMf rebranded as Glitchpulse Records. An evolution into a name that resonates with the modern music landscape, shedding the contentious term “IDM” and the outdated “netlabel.” While IDM remains a significant electronic music sub-genre that we continue to explore, Glitchpulse is not limited to this alone. This rebranding marks a new chapter focusing on innovative and cutting-edge sounds within electronic music, celebrating the eclectic and the experimental, and driving forward with a fresh, modern identity.

This year, Glitchpulse aim to honor the IDMf legacy with a collection of retrospective releases. Spanning five volumes, this collection will highlight some of the best of the IDMf catalog, offering nearly six hours of music. Each volume features a fresh new track from one of their esteemed alumni.

Volumes 1 and 2, released earlier this year, included new tracks by Jazzyspoon and tuneboxii, respectively. Upcoming Volumes 3 through 5 will showcase IDM and DnB specialists Morpion, Aaron Goodwyn, and SubQuire (formerly known as Fidelium). Each of these artists have grown substantially in their music and developed their craft over the past 20 years, making this retrospective collection a testament to their enduring talent and evolution.
