Clean Error have consistently been at the top of the heap; releasing experimental, glitch, ambient, and abstract IDM as the Errormatic series, which is now on volume 3, reveals an 11-track exploration while also acting as its own unique sphere of influence.

Shedding light on enigmatic and mysterious sounds

Many releases continue to pour through the proverbial Igloo doors, and in terms of compilations, dependable IDM labels such as Touched Music, Section 27, EC Underground, Point Source Electronic Arts, Schematic, People Can Listen, and Móatún 7 (among others) consistently gather some of the best in the experimental electronic music scene, shedding light on enigmatic and mysterious sounds that exist far beneath the surface. Clean Error have also consistently been at the top of the heap; releasing experimental, glitch, ambient, and abstract IDM as the Errormatic series, which is now on volume 3, reveals an 11-track exploration acting as its own unique sphere of influence.

Listen to Peninsolar & enabl.ed’s “Caves of Quarantine” as it slithers through dark, dubbed-out electro hallways before breaking apart (like classic Lexaunculpt) with somber soundscapes’n scrapes, strong bass thuds, and skewed clicks coalescing as a whole. These intriguing morsels of electrical activity seem well at home on Errormatic Vol.3 as label head-honcho enabl.ed also works with glitch-maestro Valance Drakes on “Scribble tune,” a superb piece of audio work, gliding through minuscule melodies floating in the background with delicate percussive crackling.

Whereas Hexalyne’s organically enriched electric shards on “Cydeck” round things off and keep the compilation in constant motion, you’ll be hard-pressed to find any breathing room when it comes to the DSP-infused mayhem and solace on tracks like FAKTOR4’s Funkstörung vs. Autechre styled “ku_c1_T” that feels completely out of this world. Yet another “clean error,” and a bewildering assortment that is simply flawless from front to back.

Errormatic Vol.3 is available on Clean Error. [Bandcamp]
