Valanx :: Ejecta Remixes (diametric.)

Ejecta saw Arne Weinberg bury deeper, digging below into insular isolation to seek shelter amongst the internal shadows. Now Valanx has called upon four similarly minded souls for re-interpretations of the Ejecta inscriptions.

Jena’s Robert Witschakowski, aka The Exaltics, is the first foot soldier drafted into Valanx’s shock brigade. The Solar One founder takes the ashen mechanics of Weinberg’s “Beyond Doubt” and bolsters it with crunching beats. There’s a touch of Autechre to the track, Gescom style snares clanking against thoughtful string. Michael Diekmann is up next under his CRC alias. Usually under this moniker Diekmann explores a 90s Techno sound, but his take on “Chasm” is more of a claustrophobic work of Dub. Adam X opens the flip. If CRC explored claustrophobia, Adam X goes that step further. Industrial pressure intensifies for “Trial of Conjuration” as waves of bass thicken and add ever increasing weight to the original. Louis Haiman ends with his rework of “Legion V2.” A bubbling, foaming piece of viscous bass to lead out.

Weinberg has gathered quality artists for this remix project, and their abilities shine through. The Valanx mood, one of leaden intent and blackened humor, is all pervasive but each re-maker adds their own personal twist. Music for the ever darkening evenings ahead.
