Taken as a whole, Full Spectrum 3 reinforces a broader point about contemporary electronic music. It isn’t stagnant, nor is it repeating itself. What it offers instead is a constantly expanding field of practice—one that often exists outside obvious distribution channels, away from mainstream radio, commercial television, or algorithm-led discovery feeds.
More than a mere meeting point of like-minded musicians—Full Spectrum 2 is an ecosystem of sound, vibrant with diversity, purpose, and heart.
Some may have given up dreaming, but not me—and three years later I’m more than happy to say that the patience paid off. Henry & Gerald take their rightful place in the studio and with an apparent love of Welsh mountains unleash Twmpa upon us. It’s the perfect mix and balance of classic Yimino and fresh new ideas that one might not have expected from the pair.
For the slew of strong releases that come our way from Touched left, right, and center, it’s easy to forget that the label has its roots in the compilation and that it’s something they’re incredibly good at.
For me, Yimino sits on that ever-dependable pedestal upon which the most reliable of artists are placed, those that you can count on with each play to engage you and satisfy your needs.
