Exeunt is an impacted collage made from cohesive electronic chunks for extraterrestrial armchair listening.
“Altair” busts open to reveal shimmering glitch tones, broken bass thumps and an uptempo IDM/electro sheen which sways about with rhythmic complexity. This sets the tone for Yvat (aka longtime veteran producer Octavian Justinian Uta) as melodic electrical scrapes adhere to DSP grains. Not unlike exp-electronics from the early 00’s, Exeunt touches upon Autechre’s penchant for dislocated patterns (ref. the time stretched “Anchorite.”) Clip hop shades evenly merge into Lexaunculpt-styled sound design on the turbulent “Ara.” Moving about crunchy percussion and crisp sonic production, Yvat introduces manipulated guitar and vocodered lyrics on the “Daneb,” a blissful tune to say the least. Elsewhere, as featured on the title track, lightly doused synth lines converge with classical hues making for a serene soundtrack to undiscovered worlds. Spreading all manner of found sounds and rolling low-end tentacles, Exeunt is an impacted collage made from cohesive electronic chunks for extraterrestrial armchair listening.
Exeunt is available on Detroit Underground.
