XY0815 :: Gates Need Inputs Vol. I (brokntoys)

XY0815 lays it all out on the line; a highlight album that culls from the Welmar-based musicians vast abstract electronic skillset and crunchy compositional signature.

Creating fuzzy stories and images with synthesizers

Creating fuzzy stories and images with synthesizers and pure creativity, XY0815 draws inspiration from a myriad of sound sources. Gates Need Inputs Volume 1 collects eight tracks rummaging through far-off bleep signals and heavy bass and beat terrain (“Buttons Are Friends”) merging blissful melodic strands with grit and groove.

There’s a nostalgic flare that can’t be ignored on these tracks either; “Sines, Subs, and Solitude” traverses distant stars as low-end rumblings emit their dissolving echoes. The warmth and careful attention to detail and fluid production techniques are off the chart. Where sound design and glitch-blasted tones fade and swell, technoid flourishes appear courtesy of “Pauline” as the title track takes charge with its bustling breaks and acidic charm.
