Witxes :: A Fabric Of Beliefs (Denovali)

In this nocturnal sonic mosaic, fragments of post-rock, jazz, metal and classical music radiate, however, they are poured in small dosages and put together in such a mysterious way resulting in something esoteric. It’s hard to say the album belongs to any of these genres. Arresting fringe music at its strangest flow and shape.

It seems that Germany-based record label, Denovali is determined to release and push forward the most experimental, bizarre and individual sounding music out there, and A Fabric Of Beliefs definitely fits that description. At times fierce and ominous like a haunted throbbing locomotive storming out of the mist, but occasionally dreamy and contemplative like lying in a distant secluded shore watching the waves crashing down on the rocks. The transitions between moods are sudden and extreme, making the ride bumpy and surprising. I was trying to see if there’s a way I could write this review without using the word dark in it, but soon realized it would be like talking about The Lord of the Rings and not mentioning Frodo. You can’t do it. A Fabric Of Beliefs contains heavy dark shades. Witxes (pronounced witches) certainly has his demons.
