Although, the title does not quite reflect the idea of the record to “celebrate today the land of the drum and the bass”, the compilation is sure very original and innovative. The fact that the artists come from all over the world makes it even more unique. This conditions a wide range of sounds and techniques, and introduces very unusual elements of electronic music. We would describe the music as a combination of vivid and soft instrumental melodies and uplifting beats with elements of trip-hop, drum’n’bass,hip-hop,
electro, etc. The record is very smooth and well structured. And it is something completely different from what we personally have heard before. The CD left us in a very positive and somewhat creative mood. We discovered some really great and promising artists, and can’t wait to hear more of their stuff.
Standout tracks: “The Beat of the Drum” and “Funnybonez & Lazylegz” by Xploding Plastix (out of Norway), “Orak” by Catfish (UK) and “B-Beat” by Modulor (Canada).
