The cues are taken straight from Chicago, with labels like Trax, DJ International and Westbrook coursing through these Finnish veins. The record offers up four cuts of 303 painted House, with a bit of Techno pebble dash.
The House train continues to roll on. More and more artists and labels are turning back to the raw sounds of the 707, 808, 909 and of course 303.The caustic harshness of House is once again capturing floors across the UK and US. Throughout Europe this dark mechanical sound has disseminated and infects, from the coasts of Ireland to the shores of Greece and beyond. In Finland, ProForm Series have been pioneering revivalist House since Virta graced turntables in 2010. Now the X0X sublabel returns with four thick slices of acrid House on We Want You To Understand The Future Vol. 1.
Healium, acid veterans J. Raninen and T. Kesäniemi, serve up “The Key” for starters. A firm bass builds alongside hi hats with acid lines flirting in the background. The track is from Techno neck of the woods than House, powerful and floor fuelled. Virta return after their excellent Spammers EP with the curiously titled “Allone Discobrothers Died Tim.” Acid lines and House beats descend for this tweaking piece, a squelching and building track. Matti Turunen, half of Morphology, cuts more acid under his Näköradiomies moniker. “Reality TV” lowers the tempo and raises the tension with a taut piece of 303 tinted House. CRC finishes off this Chitown infused EP with “Hyper Drive Sequence.” The track ties up We Want You To Understand The Future Vol. 1 neatly. The track is a stomping piece of House, acid chord pouring forth with full blooded beats puncturing the machinery.
