Tineidae is the moniker of Pavlo Storonsky, a sound producer whose style embraces cinematic textures, synth waving pads, and hypnotic-electro grooves, often immersed in dystopian sci-fi territories for the emotional and aesthetic inclination. His work has been discovered to a larger audience a handful of years ago thanks to his signature on the shuttered Tympanik Audio—a Chicago-based multifaceted electronic label which signed notable releases from Subheim, Displacer, Stendeck, and Black Lung. Later on, a few albums have been produced and distributed by the groundbreaking cinematic dark ambient label Cryo Chamber of Simon Heath (Atrium Carceri, Sabled Sun).
The cinematic grandeur meshed with chilling atmospheric qualities and alien soundscaping excursions of Tineidae are brought to the fore in albums such as Mothership (Cryo Chamber, 2022) or Exo (Cryo Chamber, 2020). This new album admits bright electronic beat-laden experiments with luminous synth etherealism and depths. Not as isolationist or gauzy than previous efforts but more inclined to renewed forms of IDM dynamics clashing with meandering textures. In a way we can perceive analogies with earliest creative attempts in Shadows (Tympanik Audio, 2014) but with the sophisticated orchestration and darkly cinematic wonders of his latest; notably in his collaborative effort (Remnants of War, Cryo Chamber, 2024) with Sole Massif. Dead Chapters is an adventurous and spacey electronic album with post-techno ingredients and is quite recommended for those who like the glimmering textures of Sabled Sun, Markus Guentner, Scanner, Vidna Obmana, and the concise energetic ambient visions of Solar Fields, Seefeel, Virgo, and Carbon Based Lifeforms.
“The initial idea for this album was formed together with the first demos over 10 years ago. It explores the concept of the last living being on the planet who is destined to erase the traces of his kind, remnants of technology, and to set a ground zero for whatever happens next to the now uninhibited empty world. Is there hope for the rise of a different civilization? Is his destiny predetermined? Will he still be alive after completing his work? Questions remain unanswered as he follows his path.” ~Pavlo Storonskyi / Tineidae
