Terence Fixmer :: Relapse Volume 1 (Planete Rouge)

Although remastered, the 2001 Fixmer works “Warm” and “Rage” carry the hallmarks of techno produced over a decade ago—in particular the industrial strength kick / clap beating out a relentless floor shuddering pace throughout.

Comprising of re-released Fixmer tracks and current counterpart remixes from Regis and Alexey Volkov, this EP represents an interesting exercise in tracing the history of techno production techniques. Although remastered, the 2001 Fixmer works “Warm” and “Rage” carry the hallmarks of techno produced over a decade ago—in particular the industrial strength kick / clap beating out a relentless floor shuddering pace throughout “Warm.” “Rage” reeks of dry ice peak time reverberations and wouldn’t feel out of place on today’s more industrial techno dance floors.

Compare this slightly abrasive jacking style to the Regis and Volkov remixes—the stereo width is far more expansive, the placement of sounds and overall sound design crisper and touched with twelve years of advances in production technology and technique. Regis explores spooked out ghostly terrain whereas highlight of the EP goes to Volkov’s minimalist rolling version of “Rage”—heads down and assume position on a 4am dance floor.
