Telefon Tel Aviv :: Fahrenheit Fair Enough (Hefty)

Mentioning the words “post-rock” and “Chicago-sound” seems unavoidable when describing new Hefty heavyweights Telefon Tel Aviv as they utilize many of the elements that make neo-jazz apostles Tortoise so special: spacious-yet-tight atmosphere and suggestive melodic voicing in dynamic interplay painted with an electro-acoustic palette. Distinguishing themselves from others incorporating similar elements, Telefon Tel Aviv add sophisticated IDM-esque beat patterning to the mix. Imaginative intricacies that sooth and never distract, here in lies a plethora of intimate moments brought to life through restrained showmanship.

And lucky for us, Fahrenheit Fair Enough maintains this thoroughly enjoyable warm, organic feel throughout. It’s that lounge-for-stoned-scientists groove, the one that compliments your detox Sunday’s so nicely. And while it may sound at times that these tracks enter open jamming territory, they are, in fact, nothing less than methodically orchestrated compositions (the quirky sound effects are integral to the song, not glossy gimmickry).

Heart-felt songs and top-notch craftsmanship, let Telefon Tel Aviv take you to a warm place.

An album-of-the-year contender.
