Buffalo, New York-based survey channel continues the pursuit of cyclical ambient electronic connections with five-piece Macrozones, inhabiting what the artist describes as “mirroring the friction between internal compulsion and a search for genuine stillness.” Each piece drifts weightlessly through that tension, shaped by blurred tones, muted rhythms, and distant melodic echoes.
Opener “Mask of Continuity” sets things in motion with subtle synth sparks and soft, lingering tones, while “The Integration” draws deeper into darker drone filaments. Loosely excavated pitter-patter beats emerge within solemn “Inner Landscape,” giving its hazy textures a faint rhythmic pulse without ever disturbing their stillness. Penultimate track “Ruinenlust” unfolds as a translucent ambient electronic tapestry, moving through nostalgic, Boards of Canada-laden tropes with a beautifully faded quality. Closing piece “Voice Guiding” carries on this hauntological thread, gradually dissolving into oblivion as distortion and fog-like atmosphere and conversation leaves behind a sense of something half-remembered.
