Strange Mountain II :: Neon Pegasus (Adhesive Sounds)

This is one majestic and enveloping sonic experience which should not be missed if you like to mentally project your being in glimmering and immensely absorbing, near hallucinogenic sounding trip which slowly evolves based on ultra minimalistic loops and a few devastating plaintive melodies.

Highly creative sound-artist and music producer in the ambient electronic galaxy, Marcel Thee (aka Strange Mountain II) made a great impression with his ambitious and delicately moving album Please Wait For Me, Please Wait Forever (Polar Seas, 2018). As time and disposals are missing it is always extremely complicated to give a serious listen on every new album which appears on screen. I’ve decided to give a closer listen on Neon Pegasus. This is one majestic and enveloping sonic experience which should not be missed if you like to mentally project your being in glimmering and immensely absorbing, near hallucinogenic sounding trip which slowly evolves based on ultra minimalistic loops and a few devastating plaintive melodies. This album works on a high emotional level with softly moving and subtly enveloping large scale ambient driftscapes. A distinctive sonic world where sliced up sonic samples meet evocative sustained textures and chordal electronic moves. Enchanting album of pure musical quiescence. At a cross between Tim Hecker or Rafael Anton Irisarri’s grainy ambient works, Hecq’s soundscapes of tragic splendor, Fripp & Eno, or Christian Fennesz’s looped ambient minimalism. More than fine ambient music syncretism—stylish and elegant. Easily recommended.

Neon Pegasus is available on Adhesive Sounds.
