Spednar / eczem :: .XOR / TXX (Tarantella)

Across two live, fifty-minute transmissions, Spednar and eczem push their machines to the brink, sculpting raw voltage and fractured rhythm into immersive, ever-mutating electronic architecture.

Two expansive (live) pieces unfold across more than fifty minutes, where Spednar and eczem distill sonic architecture into extruded, abstract modulation through .XOR  / TXX. Each work breathes in real time, circuitry alive, voltage in constant negotiation.

Spednar (Kevin Bednar) delivers the fractured frameworks of “.XOR,” where arcane rhythmic splatter collides with dense sound design and scorched bass surges. Deformed electro shapes flicker—blips, severed pulses, scattered signals—coalescing into a restless organism that mutates between precision and collapse. Spiritually aligned with Autechre and Phoenecia, yet unmistakably his own, Bednar sculpts a landscape of modular interference, each surge and rupture captured in motion rather than fixed form.

eczem (Elliott Watson) counters with “TXX,” where sideswiping frequency detonations gather pressure through fractured cadence and granular debris. Tension accumulates inside a widening glitch periphery, momentum building until structures corrode, fragment, and reassemble. Industrial abrasion, mechanical resonance, and volatile noise fold inward, then strip down into minimalist strands of evolving error and tone. Circuits falter, regenerate, and spiral forward again—live electronics as process, not product.

Collected here, these performances function as parallel sound-scrapes drawn from shared circuitry: tethered yet continuously expanding into dystopian artifacts shaped by improvisation and risk. In their shuffling noise, modular deformation, and unfiltered immediacy, Spednar and eczem operate at full voltage, masters of systems pushed to luminous instability.
