Snufmumriko :: At First Light (Shimmering Moods)

At First Light is a subtle invitation to navigate through cloudy, frosty, fragile, subjective and impressionistic soundscapes with a fancy for turntablism and hauntology.

Shimmering Moods is back with a monthly batch of new releases, continuously devoted to home-made and craft based minimal ambient releases in a semi-classical style. Let’s have a few words about Snufmumriko (aka Ingmar Wennerberg) from Sweden. This project is a quite nice and meticulous one in the field of looped experimentalism and pastoral dream like ambient. Rather discreet and dedicated to poetically intimate listening pleasures Snufmumriko published two albums for net labels before being welcomed by Shimmering Moods with this new opus.

As suggested by the cover photograph, At First Light is a subtle invitation to navigate through cloudy, frosty, fragile, subjective and impressionistic soundscapes with a fancy for turntablism and hauntology (due to the presence of fractured ghostly loops, reverbed sounding memories and sampled field recordings). Beautiful electronic treatments oscillate with soothing, flowing, grainy concrete sounds and timbral acoustic motifs. Nothing intrusive but delicately relaxing, introspective and evocative.

To sum up things, At First Light is a convincing collection of tender ambient scenery with a touching retro nostalgic aesthetism. A recommended and warmly meditative minimalist release for fans of Cate Karr, Dag Rosenqvist, Celer and Rosy Parlane.

At First Light is available on Shimmering Moods.
