Yet another avalanche of electronic distortion

The sophomore collaboration release by Snowbeasts + Solypsis is a 10-track album debut for Ohm Resistance. Fever Dream is yet another avalanche of electronic distortion and darker post-industrial layers spliced with mechanical forces spinning a creative web.

The aptly-titled album lays the groundwork for hard-hitting bass and rolling drums smashed together in all the right places (ie. “Vicious Cycle” and “The Reservation”). Twisted, scorched, and mangled to no end, the album splits open to reveal a solid foundation of groovy, gritty, and grounding downtempo. Tracks like “Reprieve” set the example—merging broken beats with heavy echoing dub elements. The duo shift into cruise control inhabiting dystopian sonic spaces when they churn a myriad of dislocated soundscapes that morph into surreal sonic mayhem as the closing piece “No Rebirth” details.

Overall Fever Dream showcases a wide-angle lens of heavily processed dark electronics and drifting vocal strands over select tracks (ie. “Radioactive Soil & Water” and the Scorn-infested opener “Dead Skies.” Fever Dream is a fierce launching point from their self-titled debut on Component and continues in their quest to unearth industrial bass and spooky electronics from another planet. Snowbeasts + Solypsis—a creative force of rhythmic noise to be reckoned with.
