All in all, calming ambient techno mosaics and expertly crafted soundscapes flourish within Four Flex One. Simply captivating.

With releases that helped launch the IDM movement in the mid-to late-1990s on labels like Worm Interface, Sprawl Imprint, Sub Rosa, Headphone, Quatermass, Skam, and Inflatabl Labl, to mention a few, Simon Pyke, better known by his Freeform moniker, should evoke some distant memories. “Overnight Looking Down,” the closing track in this tetrad, is steeped in downtempo electronica strands with its 4/4 rhythm delving through crystalline bells and what sound like wind chimes fluttering in the background. “Crocodile Part 1” and its sibling “Crocodile Part 2” both inhabit minimal techno with foggy synths and driving sonic motifs well-suited for long drives along the coastline. Opening standout “Moonbeams,” is an immense dance floor slice of life that encapsulates the mood this EP imparts on the listener. All in all, calming ambient techno mosaics and expertly crafted soundscapes flourish within Four Flex One. Simply captivating.
