V/A :: Regression In Unconsciousness (Geometric Corruption)

Fraught with terrifying motifs and stomach churning extravaganzas there is also occasional undertones of melodic exploration.

Channeling creativity within the dark arts

Entering the fractured harmonic world of hyperglitch production and extra-terrestrial sound design is a new compilation from up and coming Moroccan based label Geometric Corruption. Bringing together familiar names along with new faces, this 11-track channels creativity within the dark arts. Featuring members of the glitch.cool collective, we hear devastating experimentation within the sonic field. Whilst to foreign ears one may get lost in the un-syncopated layer cake, on invested listening of the genre, one takes much detail and development away with them.

For those new to these waters, this compilation is a great way to dip your toe in. Fraught with terrifying motifs and stomach churning extravaganzas there is also occasional undertones of melodic exploration that are comparable to the likes of Gimmik and early emotive driven intelligent dance music—Disektor’s track “Forgotten relics,” presents this like a younger naughtier brother.

Additional highlights include alumni to the scene Abroxis with “Spectral Calamity,” and Sunnk with “out of frame.” New ones to me that also bear note are ZZY with their cinematic voyage “Symbiosis,” and ABADIR with their delicately pronounced track “Blurred.”
