At around 53 minutes, both multi-talented musicians span the gauntlet of exploratory ambient, downtempo, and skewed trip-hop transmissions rolled up into one unique remix assortment. A contrasting collection of soundscapes and escapes through auditory bliss; fluid rhythms and old-school breaks, bass, and ambient segments keep the listener fully engaged.
“Initially, we contemplated a traditional remix album, and then later considered a production release where the time was divided equally between both beat makers’ individual productions. We also discussed that it had to represent the spirit of our mutual interest in Stephen King and Peter Straub’s novels, notably the Dark Tower series.”
Side A (featuring six tracks from both rchecka and delta5ive) encapsulates an ebb and flow between drifting with The Orb-like grooves and shifts from smooth breaks to vintage drum infusions and meandering soundtrack moments. There are hints of artists like Enigma, Delerium, and even DJ Shadow present here too, where electronica and New Age influences abound. Side B (featuring nine tracks) is a heavier, downtrodden mix with an emphasis on darker illbient moments. The melodic strands continue to flow throughout, and yet both musicians have such a consistency between their tracks that it’s easy to get lost in their exploratory musical creations as they blend so well together. It’s a creative surplus of activity from two artists who really have a knack for collaboration.
