An extraterrestrial sonic experience

QNTM CTRL has released a well-crafted work in a vinyl format called The Eagle And The Senses EP via the new electronic music label and blockchain art collective Oblivious Transfer. It’s an extraterrestrial sonic experience composed with sample and timbre choices which, accompanied by the album artwork and a comic illustration insert sheet, take you to a journey through space in a dime.

The EP opener, “Random Value,” is a badass electro combining a varying broken snare interval beat with dissonant spacey synth stabs, long sustaining reverbs, laser beams and a constant bassline pounding in the background, which provide quite an odd feel for an intriguing dancefloor tune, most certainly dedicated to the more open-minded dancers. The second track, “Endless Expression,” keeps the listener in suspense as it progresses on a dubby spaced-out ambience structured as a moto-continuum, with elements that lay in and out on a musical format that gathers not only a repeater basis, but a randomness applied with inharmonious pads and arpeggios over its top. On the B side, “The Eagle And The Senses,” a braindance gem, closes the EP with a slow paced broken beat full of glitching noises, low end sub frequencies, futuristic echo-chamber textures and an Autechre-like synth (for old-school heads that may make that connection), with power to teleport you to a mission on an alien planet. If you’re a diehard fan of sci-fi, this is your soundtrack.
