Altering perceptions of extraterrestrial experimentation intermixed with bass, signal-processing and a collation of tumbling frequencies Unseen Intruders forms a skewed perception of intelligent dance music that is definitive in its approach and take-off.
[Release page] Qebrus and Valance Drakes team up as a single musical entity for the Unseen Intruders extended player—a 3-track wash of organically dense percussive giants revolving around thin melodic bleeps and abstract tentacles. This conjoined force was bound to happen too, the analog piercing of Qebrus balanced against Valence Drakes’ brooding rhythmic mutations create a Gescom’ish world of dust and debris orbiting low-flying basslines as featured on “Chapter One,” the opening track. “Epilogue” takes the data-processing a step further as undulating flickering and hip-hop extracts slide across a bed of ambient waveforms. Slithering underneath the spectrum of instrumental electronics, “Epilogue” presents future sounds of slowly simmering atmospherics and disjointed bursts of noise. “Preface” takes a similar pathway of cyclic layering as a mass of air-pressure, clicks, cuts and electrified hip-hop recalls artists like Prefuse 73 and Push Button Objects. As a result, one can only imagine this 3-tracker will (hopefully) lead to a full-length assault for the senses as this EP more than whets the appetite. Altering perceptions of extraterrestrial experimentation intermixed with bass, signal-processing and a collation of tumbling frequencies Unseen Intruders forms a skewed perception of intelligent dance music that is definitive in its approach and take-off.
