Short and sweet, brisk and expansive, the artist continues with his signature snapshots that somehow mutate into decadent audio murals.
Fine dust particles settle within the electrical clutter on Panic Can Only Bring On Fear And Defeat—two tracks collated by the ever-prolific Valance Drakes with precise yet gritty patchwork. An emotive passage of time, decayed memories are developed within these extraterrestrial pieces. Short and sweet, brisk and expansive, the artist continues with his signature snapshots that somehow mutate into decadent audio murals. A few subtle vocoder splashes make an entrance on “Grasp The Truth Before You,” only to be surpassed by wide-open spaces that eventually evolve into crystallized bits. Not unlike what we’ve heard before, Drakes continues in his quest to hover slightly above other microscopic bass-infused glitch producers, and “Never To Arise Again To Bask In Whats Created” is one such example. I can only imagine where a full-length album would take the listener, but it is with these minuscule sound-bytes scattered all about, that the listener is able to be gently thrusted into the Exosphere.
Panic Can Only Bring On Fear And Defeat is available on Cut & Paste as a limited edition of 50 lathe-cut 7″ vinyl and/or digital.
