Proswell :: Cloud-pine EP (Schematic Music Co.)

Cloud-pine essentially traverses a myriad of bubbling melodies floating with translucent electronics and an 8-bit infused backdrop.

Inspired soundtracks to lost video games

Tagged as “an adventure @ 100BPM for 24 minutes,” Proswell (aka Joseph Misra) has kept busy in 2020 considering the noise surrounding us—the pre-pandemic Amaterasu for Touched Music, and his forthcoming mega remix compilation. Back in early August he release a half-dozen tracks on Schematic Music Company titled Cloud-pine which essentially traverses a myriad of bubbling melodies floating with translucent electronics and an 8-bit infused backdrop.

The title track perhaps best defines the video game dynamic with shuffling blips, bleeps and fractals dancing all about. While at times veering into downtempo strains, Proswell always maintains a positive approach and “Magical Electronic Crickets” really sets the stage. “Yambe-Akka III” continues with chugging beats and signature melodic stream of subconsciousness as “Eschaton” furthers the artists’ knack for inspired soundtracks to lost video games—a story unfolds carefully and as these six tracks drift and evolve, they also leave room for interpretation. A magnetically charged extended player that fills all the nooks and crannies with enough IDM momentum for us to crave more.

Footnote: This EP is intended as one 24 minute piece with six parts to it, all at 100BPM.
