Post-ambient/noise and crumpled industrial landscapes

Ben Rabenold’s (aka Precenphix) contemplative album, Husks of War is an ambient vortex of sonic activity, shifting storms, and piano elements blended with neo-classical structures (ref. “Exodus”). Additionally, rhythmic structures (“Evacuation”) with their strange, enigmatic flow and expansive, somber echoes (“Infiltration”) allow us to lose ourselves in its vacuous spaces. Powerful and glitchy electronics dominate “Occupation,” which evolves with roughened textures and technoid fractures. Yet Precenphix takes solace in these gloomier surroundings where shadows lurk and intensify—take note of “Innocence Dusk’s” turbulent strands and stretched drone tones. Constructed as a vessel that allows curiously enticing post-ambient/noise and crumpled industrial landscapes to expand and contract, Precenphix tugs at the listeners heartstrings with this otherworldly album.

“This is an album dedicated to those who have faced the struggle and strife, life-altering conditions of armed conflict…an album with no boundaries or time constraints.” ~Precenphix
