This EP consists of tracks that were recorded in the past, but didn’t fit on the project’s aesthetic at the time since they were more acid oriented.
A great release for acid lovers
In February Italian artist Gianclaudio H. Moniri released via Pyteca the 4-track EP Midnight Allures as the last output under the Plaster moniker, a project that was originally a trio formed in Rome back in 2008. This EP consists of tracks that were recorded in the past, but didn’t fit on the project’s aesthetic at the time since they were more acid oriented.
Opening the EP, “Lazy Tongues” begins with a fading in acid arpeggio accompanying a slow-paced beat, spacey textures and a dirty saw bassline to wrap it up, which brings a sexy tripped-out feel to the listener. Up next comes my favorite track, “Your Dirty Shape,” a multilayered low bpm piece with lots of parallel elements piercing through one another, which, for some could seem disorganized and disconnected, but the complexity is very well arranged so that the resulting agglomerate of sounds is remarkable for IDM lovers. Love the sweeping Roland SH-101!
Although “Fake Spiral” keeps the acid element as an aesthetic connector, the track turns the EP to another direction, with another level of energy and a futuristic vibe, since it brings an acid techno format fit for the dancefloor. To end the release, Pyteca label boss Vincenzo Pizzi brought his personal touch to “Lazy Tongues” with a 4×4 remix that flirts with minimal and acid techno. The softly whispered words laid an even sexier and intimate approach to the original tune. A great release for acid lovers.
